Save grey squirrels!
In less than two months, injured grey squirrels could lose their only lifeline.
Natural England plans to revoke all licenses to release them due to their ‘non-native’ status in December. If these plans go ahead, when squirrels are brought to a vet or rescue centre, they will either have to treat them and then keep them in captivity for the rest of their natural life, or euthanise them. This cannot be allowed to go ahead, and we seek urgent intervention from the government.
Please write to Theresa Villiers MP (Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) about this situation and ask for the government to stop this needless persecution of grey squirrels.
It’s always more effective to put together your own letter, but we’ve put together a template to help you. If you need any help with this, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
