Some producers involved in the dairy, aquaculture, shellfish and fishing sectors are now set to receive various levels of financial support from the government to help their struggling businesses, due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. Rather than propping up these damaging industries, it is vital that support is given to help them transition to safer, kinder and more sustainable plant-based agriculture or alternative land use.

And to boot, the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) has also just launched a £1 million milk marketing campaign to encourage UK households to consume more dairy products, funded jointly by Defra, the Scottish Government, Welsh Government, Northern Ireland Executive, the AHDB and Dairy UK. This represents £500,000 of public money.
