Email your MP asking for stronger legislation to protect animals

The government has announced how it will ‘be introducing a series of Bills in due course focusing on animal sentience, kept animals here in the UK and the welfare of animals. There will also be a series of non-legislative changes to promote animal welfare over the coming months, with a number of regulations due to be brought forward as early as this year.

Please contact your MP and ask them to draft, or support, any amendments that strengthen the Bills which will govern how people are allowed to breed, rear, keep and kill animals. As George Eustice stated in the ‘Action Plan’: ‘The way we treat animals reflects our values and the kind of people we are’. We couldn’t agree more, which is why Defra’s ‘Action Plan’ should implement real changes, rather than being a missed opportunity.
